Sean Tyrrell, Message of Peace

The compelling story of Irish hero and American poet and activist, John Boyle O’Reilly, in prose, poetry, and song.

Thursday, October 12th, 7:30

$15.00 at the door.

Message of Peace is the deeply moving, engaging and remarkable story of a John Boyle O’Reilly (1844-1890); created and performed by the Irish singer Sean Tyrrell. The performance traces O’Reilly’s journey from early childhood, set against a backdrop of famine and revolution, to penal servitude in Australia, his escape from Australia on a whaling ship to the USA and finally to Boston where O’Reilly became the most influential Irishman in America of his day. O'Reilly's story unfolds in both spoken word and song; mapping his life and work. Tyrrell interjects his own observations on our own times and condition, leaving no doubt as to the passion, respect and high esteem in which he beholds his all time hero.
